Loved and Missed

Misty Manor's Saved By Grace

1/1/03-4/27/08

When God wasn't watching, I stole you away

A tiny sable girl, born on New Year's Day.

They said "She won't make it", but you had other plans

My precious little girl, you fit in the palm of my hands.

Fed with an eyedropper, kept warm in my bed

I knew you would make it, didn't care what they said.

You beat the odds, you continued to thrive

The kennels not for you, your staying inside.

No show dog were you, just our "Little Grace"

Our sweet little girl, with the beautiful face.

You took to my oldest son, you called him your own

Waiting patiently everyday, for him to come home.

Happy for years, how you loved to play

Guarding our home, you enjoyed everyday.

One day God noticed, you were not by his side

I knew I would lose you, and we hadn't much time.

But months before your passing, a single boy was born

I looked in the whelping box and asked, "Why one, why not more?"

I think back now and wonder, was God trying to be fair?

Sending him for you to show how to protect; to love; to share?

God must also have a sense of humor, because despite all of our despair,

Not a day goes by when I don't yell, "Rocky - Don't you Dare!"

Housebreaking, chewing, raising a puppy once more

I can't help but love him, he's too cute to ignore.

His coming has been a blessing, I'm glad we're not alone

Because a house without a collie, is certainly not a home.

Rocky has big shoes to fill, and will never take your place

But with him and time we will heal, sleep well our "Little Grace".
